Prototyping&Gamification(Doh!)

  • Skills Demonstrated:
    Storyboarding, HTML5, Production
  • Client or Stakeholder:
    Neon Stingray, Qantas, Telstra T-Box

Prototyping can be an approximation of the product itself or specific to testing the UI or a select User Journey (Scope), abstract in it’s nature or tangible in relation to the product (Form) and vary in it’s granularity or representation of the product (Fidelity). Essentially, assisting in evaluating the design and research.

Remember the User Centric Design Process? (Research-Concept-Design-Evaluate-Support-..)
Well Rapid Prototyping sits in the Design phase to allow you to test in the Evaluate phase.

Besides being invaluable early research it can also be quite fun when making a pseudo game or selling the skillset of your team.

I can assist in making prototypes in many ways. Paper, HTML or as a native device app which as an example was used during the Qantas Q-Streaming in-flight entertainment project

For the International Broadcasters Conference (IBC) in Amsterdam I thought it would be a nice showcase and a ‘relief’ for the visitors to play a little game…even though it was selling the skills of Neon Stingray in a subtle manner. :)

A HTML 5 game that worked across Desktop, iPad and Android tablets.

PLAY THE GAME!

With thanks…
To Alastair Simpson for writing the merits of rapid prototyping and Linh Le for the remaining designs at breakneck pace.
